The origins of the winegrower’s cooperative Domaines Vinsmoselle date back to 1921, when the first of six wineries were founded. Today, the cooperative comprises of 320 members and 820 hectares of vineyards – that’s 80% locally operating wineries producing on two-thirds of the Luxembourg’s wine terrain.

It is with great honors that these wineries supply their products to the Grand Ducal court. The director of Vinsmoselle, Georges Schaaf is of the opinion that, “in a small country like ours, it is important to express our solidarity with the court”.

A royal anecdote: Grand Duke Jean and the Norwegian King Harald were scheduled to jointly visit the winery in Grevenmacher. Everything was carefully planned, but the two distinguished guests spontaneously tweaked the plan – causing a challenge for planners. However, the wine cellar tour ended on a happy note with an exclusive Vinsmoselle wine tasting.

For those with a regal taste, two options are recommended: The Cuvée “Duc Henri” has been on the market since 1955 – created at the time to mark the birth of Grand Duke Henri, while the latest edition, the Cuvée spéciale “Mariage Princier 2012″, enters the market to celebrate the royal nuptials. It goes without saying that the Domaines Vinsmoselle takes pride in celebrating special occasions by allowing their Crémant to “flow”!
