“Mamma is the best cook!”, Flavio is sure of that. It is 10:30 in the morning and his mother Angela has just made a tour through her grocery shop where she gathered the ingredients for today’s lunch menu. Soon enough she has created typical Italian pasta dishes such as cannelloni and lasagna in her big open kitchen. The “Atelier del Gusto”, in Luxembourg’s Bonnevoie quarter, not only sells Italian groceries, it is also a restaurant, and it is true to its name.
Time for a strong espresso! Bistro chairs, small tables and plastic tablecloths… memories from last year’s holiday in Italy come flooding back – the quality of the food and welcome often far exceeding the decoration! Flavio’s family has been living in Luxembourg for five years far from their origins in Puglia, the heel of the Italian boot. A lot of what you will find in the Atelier del Gusto comes from this region: pasta, jam, biscuits…., and there is also a deli counter.
Some highlights that you simply must try: the homemade squid salad as well as the mozzarella and the burrato! “Our mozzarella is delivered to many restaurants and delicatessens in Luxembourg”, Flavio proudly tells us. Taste Europe in Luxembourg!
