With “Knopes artisans torréfacteur” or “Knopes” for short, coffee production is a family tradition. Francois Knopes tells us that his father started roasting coffee back in 1936 in Athus, Belgium. Today his brothers Francois and Fabien keep the tradition alive from their atelier in the “Am Garage” complex on Route d’Esch in Luxembourg-city.
A second shop can be found on the Avenue de la Porte Neuve in the city center. At Knopes, production, tasting and selling are very close to each other, both conceptually and physically. Try their premium coffees from Papua-New Guinea, Burundi and Bolivia. Or their houseblend, which preserves an astonishing amount of flavour and aroma thanks to its particularly mild roasting process.
You love drinking coffee but are also interested in the process of production, the roasting and some of the history? Knopes organizes guided tours and workshops. There are also technical workshops that teach you all you need to know about the maintenance of coffee machines.
