The history of this laudable designation dates back to the mid-19th Century, during the reign of Guillaume III, King of the Netherlands and Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Establishments supplying to the royal court regularly for a period of at least 5 years are eligible to apply for this title. The highest quality goes without saying, as these specialized shops and establishments are distinguishable with a royal crest inscribed sign proudly displayed for all to admire.
