When the subtle scent of grilled sausages tease the air and trendy bargains are simply irresistible, or a multicolored mini bus is spotted picking up passengers at the car parks it’s time for Luxembourg’s “Street Sale”. On Saturday the 12th of May, the city center is transformed into a pedestrian zone with over 300 stalls. As the first fashionistas begin their style pilgrimage at 8 am by laying their hands on the finest clothing, handbags, shoes and accessories on offer, the shopkeepers constantly and neatly rearrange their stalls with other unique items as people flood the shops until 6 pm.
The so-called “Octave”, a traditional religious pilgrimage observed locally, also takes place simultaneously. A market/ fun fair facing the Cathedral in the Place de Guillaume II is organized by the city of Luxembourg for pilgrims and visitors alike, to replenish themselves and enjoy the local culture.
For those on a mission to find the ultimate sets of “hot wheels” shall not only face a wide shiny selection, but a challenge of driving it out of the packed display car park and onto the city streets: The ACL (Luxembourger Car Association) is organizing this year’s first national “Used-Car Auction” on the Glacis car park. From this pick up point the City Shopping Bus shuttles visitor free of charge to and from the city center. Experience the local pulse through two traditionally Luxembourgish events starting this Saturday with the “Street Sale” and Octave Pilgrimage and check out the great deals at the Grand Duchy’s first “Used Car Festival”.
What a great way to blast off your weekend!
